The responsibilities of the Physical Therapist include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Under a physician’s order, and within the scope of practice and federal guidelines, the Physical Therapist:
- Evaluates, plans, and administers treatment to patients with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal system issues.
- Administers and interprets tests and measurements related to muscle strength, coordination, range of motion, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
- Provides direct resident treatment in accordance with an established plan of care.
- Instructs patients, families, and caregivers on the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, and other assistive devices.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Develops special tools and treatment plans to meet the specific needs of patients.
- Conducts home assessments as needed to ensure the safe discharge of residents to an appropriate environment.
- Completes required forms and documentation in compliance with company policies and state and/or federal regulations.
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
- At least one (1) year of clinical experience is preferred.
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy issued by the State’s Board of Allied Health Professionals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May provide on-site supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, and provisional Physical Therapists in accordance with state practice guidelines.
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Shift work may be required.
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk, and hear.
- Employee may occasionally assist with lifting and/or transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds.
- Employee may occasionally be exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
