The responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Under a physician’s orders, screen and evaluate residents/patients, developing an appropriate care plan.
- Assist residents/patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, cooking, and eating.
- Instruct residents, families, and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, splints, and aids for eating and dressing.
- Maintain patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement special tools and treatments tailored to the specific needs of patients.
- Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
Experience and Skills:
- Certified or registered by the National Certification Board for Occupational Therapy (NCBOT).
- Licensed in Occupational Therapy, if required by state law.
- One (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May supervise COTAs, Rehab Aides, or provisional licensed occupational therapists according to state practice guidelines.
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Shift work may be required.
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk, and hear.
- Employee may occasionally assist in lifting and/or transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds.
- Employee may be occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
