The responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist include, but are not limited to: 

Responsibilities:

  • Under a physician’s orders, screen and evaluate residents/patients, developing an appropriate care plan.
  • Assist residents/patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, cooking, and eating.
  • Instruct residents, families, and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, splints, and aids for eating and dressing.
  • Maintain patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement special tools and treatments tailored to the specific needs of patients.
  • Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.

Experience and Skills:

  • Certified or registered by the National Certification Board for Occupational Therapy (NCBOT).
  • Licensed in Occupational Therapy, if required by state law.
  • One (1) year of clinical experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May supervise COTAs, Rehab Aides, or provisional licensed occupational therapists according to state practice guidelines.

Physical Demands and Environment:

  • Shift work may be required.
  • Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk, and hear.
  • Employee may occasionally assist in lifting and/or transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds.
  • Employee may be occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • In compliance with applicable law, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
