Los Angeles Jewish Health has been a trusted provider of senior healthcare for over 100 years, offering a wide range of services that prioritize excellence and Jewish values. We serve more than 4,000 seniors across our San Fernando Valley campuses, delivering personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs, from independent living to specialized healthcare programs.
The Director of Information Systems will serve as an IT leader, overseeing all IS Operations (technical and service delivery) to support the delivery of IS services across our organization and ensuring the seamless operation of our technology and information systems. The Information Systems department supports various business service lines within the organization and the Director of IS will be responsible for strategic input, operational tasks, project implementation and team development to support each of the LAJH service lines. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role will manage the IS Operations, IS Helpdesk Manager and IS Operations Manager be successful in their roles as they are the customer front facing IS leaders. The leader is also there to foster collaboration, create efficiency across the organization, and deliver exceptional IS Service Delivery. The candidate will be instrumental in adhering to cybersecurity principles that protect the organization, infrastructure, and data. The Director will also participate in the development of a team-oriented environment, IT policies, and processes that align with the LAJH mission and values. Additionally, the role will focus on improving all aspects of IT service delivery to enhance overall organizational performance.
The responsibilities of the Director of Information Systems include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management: work with all LAJH vendors in relation to solutions, services, service level agreements, negotiations, support, and new technologies to support our technology and business strategies.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including network, server, unified communications, data management, and cloud services.
- The Director of IS will be responsible for Domain Management in our enterprise environment. This includes strategy and operational tasks as a hands-on leader. The Director will assist our team in the efficient use of our directory services which includes, Identity Management, Authentication, Access Control, User and Groups, Group Policy Management, Monitor and Reporting, Backup and Recovery, Security and Compliance, Maintenance and Updates.
- Management and guiding the administration of our MS Office environment which includes Configuration, License Management, Updates and Patches, Integration, User Group Management, Collaboration Tools, Security and Compliance, and managing the roll out of updates and efficient use of new features.
- The Direct of IT will also be responsible for the strategic planning, maintenance and governance to ensure the department has productive and reliable tools to support our organization. This includes tool inventory and assessment, Licensing and Compliance, Updates and Patching, and training our staff how to use the tools.
- Support the organization and IT department with the support of maintaining a platform and environment to maintain the use of our enterprise applications and ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
- Guide the team in establishing and maintaining business continuity protocols, as well as implementing robust redundancy strategies.
- Design and implement efficient data storage practices by leveraging technologies such as data deduplication, compression, and tiered storage. Ensure the environment supports scalability and performance optimization through proper provisioning, regular capacity planning, and the use of high-performing storage solutions like SSDs and cloud storage.
- Establish robust backup and disaster recovery protocols, while maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards. Continuously monitor storage performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements using advanced tools and analytics."
- Cybersecurity: Ensure we move and operate with a robust cybersecurity mindset thereby implementing safeguards for the organization, infrastructure, and data against threats.
- Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and direction to the IS HelpDesk Manager and IS Operations Manager, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Operational Excellence: Continuously evaluate and improve IT service delivery to support the organization's mission.
- Policy and Process Development: Collaborate on the creation and refinement of IT policies, processes, and team development initiatives.
- Budget Oversight: Manage the IS functions by optimizing resources and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to healthcare and service line regulations and data security standards.
- Innovation: Identify and implement emerging technologies to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably within healthcare or non-profit sectors.
- Strong business acumen to leverage in our complex environment.
- 5+ years’ proven expertise in infrastructure management and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and healthcare IT systems, including compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to support our remote locations within our service area, which includes on site implementations at times.
- Must be a team leader that supports a collaborative culture that focuses on team growth and excellent service delivery.
